Policies and terms
Privacy policy, terms of service, and scope of use for CiteStation.
Privacy
We collect the information you submit on the access request form: name, work email, company, vertical, and your description of what you would check first. We use this to respond to your request and, if you become a customer, to operate the service.
We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not collect information from people who visit the site without submitting the form.
Content you submit for analysis is used only to produce the verification results we return to you. We do not use it to train models or to improve results for other customers.
If you would like a copy of the information we hold about you, or you would like us to delete it, email us at the address on the corrections page.
Terms of service
By using CiteStation you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Permitted use. You may use CiteStation to verify claims in content you own or are authorised to review. You may not use it to scrape, reverse engineer, or replicate the service.
Accuracy. We verify claims against publicly available documents. We do not guarantee that every claim can be resolved, that every relevant document is accessible, or that our verdicts are free of error. Verdicts are inputs to your editorial judgement, not substitutes for it.
Content you submit. You retain ownership of content you submit for analysis. You grant us a limited licence to process it for the purpose of producing your results.
Changes. We may update these terms. We will note the date of the most recent change at the bottom of this page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Scope of use
- What we check
- Factual claims that can be traced to a primary document — numbers, statistics, attributed quotations, and stated findings. We do not check opinions, predictions, or claims for which no published primary source is expected to exist.
- What our verdicts mean
- A verdict describes what we found, or did not find, at the time of the check. It is not a legal determination, a medical opinion, or a guarantee of accuracy. The editorial decision stays with you.
- When a result is unresolvable
- Some claims cannot be resolved because the source is behind a paywall, the page has gone offline and is not archived, or the document is in a format we cannot process. Unresolvable is not a failing verdict — it means we could not check it, not that it is wrong.
Corrections
If you believe a verdict we returned was incorrect — that we missed a document, misread a source, or assigned the wrong verdict — we want to know. Send the claim, the source you believe applies, and the verdict we returned to corrections@citestation.com.
We investigate every correction report. If we confirm an error we update our records and, where the claim has been checked for other customers, apply the correction there too.
